This month, conversations regarding both Time and Newsweek have been circling the air. Controversial covers have stirred conversation and media attention. Time’s controversial cover was photo of a mom breast feeding, what looked like, a 4-year-old boy. The image is interesting enough to cause a debate.

The story with the cover deals with a controversial theory by Dr. William Sears. To sum up the theory, Dr. Sears, argues modern Western parents forgetting how to parent naturally. The attachment parenting theory, states that you can never be too close to your children. You should carry them close to you, let them sleep in your bed, and never allow them to cry out of fear. You should breast feed (assuming this was the idea for the cover) your children until they are at least toddlers. The Baby Book was a best-seller.

But where does family play into this theory, where does satisfying your needs, your wants and desires, play into this theory. While, Dr. Sears’ theory, is interesting. You question whether or not devoting your life entirely is good for anyone else involved. You know what they say, “you can’t take care of anyone else, if you can’t take care of yourself.” And what about Dad? Where does he fit in? What about your relationship and intimacy.

It’s hard to gauge whether or not the Time magazine cover was successful. It depends on your definition of success. Was it controversial enough to scare readers away? or was it controversial enough to start conversation, question theories, and get people talking about Time magazine.

The best part about this week’s episode was when gorgeous best friend, Ceci (Hannah Simone) decided that she wanted to have a real relationship with Schmidt (Max Greenfield).  I like the classic, “a guy like that could never get a girl like that,” story line.   The writers are definitely hinting at a possible relationship between Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess, which could be a good thing, but I don’t know if the audience has really fallen in love with Nick yet. Last episode, Nick went off the deep end and started a tomato plants, now he’s thinking about moving in with his ex-girlfriend, can’t he figure it out?

The original Anchorman is about Ron Burgundy and he’s fight to be the number one news anchor and falling in love. The Legend of Ron Burgundy Makes me wonder if Ron will be retired. Who will be San Diego’s Anchorman? Will he be married to Veronica Corningstone with babies?

According to Co-founder Aubris Pagano, the designers were originally hesitate about the idea of customized clothing, now the designers are enthusiastic about an alternative creativity that will be more fulfilling to traditional wholesale design.

The story starts with Young and Rubicam, two advertising men, dropping bags filled with water on the protesters parading on the Madison Avenue sidewalk. Meanwhile, protestors marched right up to the Advertising Agency’s office and spoke with the secretary. The protestors explained that to the secretary that water bag were being dropped from this office building. After a few passes back and forth the advertising men entered the scene carrying the water the water bags. The protestor said, “And they call us savages.”

One critics, Matt Zoller Seitz for New York magazine, said that the line ”And they call us savages” was terrible line that should have been red-penciled.

What most people probably don’t know, maybe even Matt Zoller, is that this weeks episode actually happened in real life. According to the New York Time, the first scene was almost written verbatim to an article in The Time on May 28, 1966.

The article said:

“A container of water was pitched out of one of the windows of the building, splashing two spectators. Later, two demonstrators were hit by water-filled paper bags thrown from the building.”

A 9-year-old boy was struck. Several women in the protest, including the boy’s mother, hurried up to the advertising agency’s sixth-floor offices and confronted a secretary about the water throwing.

“This is the executive floor,” the secretary said. “That’s utterly ridiculous.”

“Don’t you call us ridiculous,” a protester shouted. “Is this what Madison Avenue represents?”

“And they call us savages,” a protester named Vivian Harris said.
