Hamed Wardak and Anderson Silva Up for a Different Fight

UFC champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva did not fight in the ring on January 12th, but instead suited up for a different challenge. Silva and Hamed Wardak, CEO of Ludus Athletics, united their efforts to raise money at the star-studded charity event for the Pakistani flood victims and United Nations Refugee Agency. Silva signed a pair of his gloves, which were donated to the silent auction. He explained that he can relate to what the Afghan people from impoverished backgrounds are going through. Although his past is not the same, he is ready to go out and do his part to make sure the lives of those who are less fortunate will improve. “Even though the Afghan refugees’ background is different from mine, I can relate to their plight,” Silva said. “I support the work of the UN Refugee Agency in Pakistan and its work helping needy communities worldwide.”

Next to Silva, Hamed Wardak was also eager and excited to contribute to helping those in need. Ludus Athletics new eco-friendly active clothing line was presented at the event as part of the fundraising efforts. After revealing the garments made out of organic fabric and recycled goods, he offered them for sale and donated all proceeds to the charity event. “So many members of the Afghan Diaspora are refugees in one way or another. I am pleased that I can give back, particularly through Ludus Athletics,” Wardak said after the event. Him and Silva are closely involved with using athletics and arts to making a positive change in the world and to encourage forward thinkers that want to do the same.
