Is Droid The New iPhone?
On November 6, 2009, the Internet and multimedia enabled Smartphone designed by Motorola, called Droid came out. Since then it seems as if, no matter where you look, someone has either an iPhone or a Droid. Arguments can be made in relation to which one is better and many would claim that theirs is better than the other one. Both provide features to allow web access, calling, texting, pictures and videos and are similar to each other in the eye of a non-expert. No matter what the exact differences are, what needs to be brought to attention is the fact that approximately fifty years ago, the cell phone or mobile phone was first invented.
Fifty years is not a long time it seems, but moving from a cell phone that allowed users to exclusively make calls to devices, which let you do things that many people in their 70’s would have never imagined in their youth. Instead today you have the opportunity to get new and used cell phones for as little as around $10 and move up by hundreds to include all kinds of different features, which are unthinkable of not having today. But as quickly as the past 50 years have passed, the next 50 years will follow at an even faster pace. And once you get to 2051, will there still be cell phones?
