Thinking Pink in the Hamptons
Last month, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation held its Hamptons Paddle and Party of Pink event at the Hampton’s home of Richard and Lisa Perry. Not only did the guests in attendance adhere to the event’s “think pink” theme, but the weather did as well. Guests described the sky as rose gold, salmon pink and very pretty.
The event began with a Sag Harbor paddle board race in the morning that about 150 fundraisers participated in. Co-chair of the event Maria Baum, a breast cancer survivor, “explained that she found great spiritual solace in paddle boarding during her own diagnosis, treatment and recovery. Not everyone felt like a pro, but fortunately Laird Hamilton, surfer, and the founder of stand-up paddle boarding was in attendance to help balance the boards.
“Taking part in today’s race means a lot to so many people. It was an incredible event, and everyone had a great time,” Laird said.
Celebrity decorated paddle boards were up to win, in addition to other offerings like rose gold bracelets and “priceless” experiences, like having a famous chef cook a meal in your own kitchen. Overall, the event raised more than $1.2 million for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Goldman Sachs was the events largest donor. Notable guests in attendance included Susan Harrison, Elena Castaneda, Martha Stewart, Andrew Farkas and Randi Shatz, among others.
